Pakistan Air Force is the Air Warfare branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces, tasked with providing air defense services in Pakistan, a second role for providing air assistance to the Pakistani and Maritime Air Force where required, as well as providing air traffic control measures.
According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, PAF has a staff of 70,000 and operates at least 594 flights in Pakistan by 2021. Its main mission and mission is to "provide Pakistan's most secure and affordable air defense, in partnership with other industries .Since its inception in 1947, PAF has been involved in various military operations, providing air support to Pakistani military operations and relief operations.
Under Article 243, the Constitution of Pakistan appoints the President of Pakistan as Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistani Armed Forces. The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), in accordance with the law, appoints a four-star aviation officer in consultation with the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
